First…

Critterville.net is back up so please update if you still have the Critterville.org link on your site. I will be updating the site in the next 24 hours over to its new format.

Second…

It takes a lot to confuse me. But this product not only did, but also left my brain hurting. Just so you know in advance, no I did not buy this or use this.

Below are pictures of a hallow wax candles you stick in your ear and light the end with the purpose of sucking out your ear goo. I know what your thinking…who would want to give up their ear goo.

I've seen them work

and I'v been looking for them!

They get out that really deep earwax. I saw a demonstration and a college friend was the guinea pig. He said he noticed about a 20% increase in his hearing after that big blob of ear wax was gone.

It's weird and slightly risky to have done, but I have a couple of friends who say it really works wonders.

Whatever. To each his own. I personally feel that if I get to the point where I'm burning candles out of my ears, that's a sign that I finally need to seek professional counseling.

ear candles are bullshit, light one in a jar and ear wax will magically appear.

Seconded. And if you want a demonstration of the psychological effect, wear earplugs for an hour and then take them out--everything will appear louder and clearer.

There's no wax that an ENT specialist can't remove with the specialized instrument he has to do exactly that. I'd also hazard a guess that you probably don't want to create an intense, sealed vacuum around your ear.

I went to a party and they were doing these. One by one, vereyone got their ears cleaned and we had great fun splitting open the used candles to see the wax deposits. Some where worse that others. But we suspicious of these candles being a hoax so we lit one and place it into a clean, empty bottle and wiated for it to run it course. When it was done, we cut it open and discovered the results were the same. Wax buildup from an empty glass bottle. We were less entused after that. ^^ Nice site update btw. ^^
